About the Challenge
Our food choices have a significant impact on our health, society, and the environment. Plant-based food is a multiproblem solution to several global challenges, including climate change, food security, animal welfare, and health and pandemics.
In response to the growing global shift towards plant-based living and as a means of attracting young talent to pioneer plant-based food innovation, ProVeg is launching the Food Innovation Challenge across Southeast Asia, in partnership with World Animal Protection.
If you are passionate about promoting a sustainable lifestyle, creating delicious healthy food, and reducing animal consumption, apply immediately!
Why Asia?
The Asia Pacific region has the largest share of plant-based consumers globally. Given the increasing awareness of health and environment, the region is also expected to constitute the largest share of the global plant-based food sector in the near future. ProVeg wants to help transform the most innovative, impactful, and sustainable plant-based food ideas into successful quality products.
Participating Companies and Innovation Topics

Innovation topic: Develop ready-to-drink beverage applications, using Oatly milk, for cafes and food-service chains. Identify target food-service chains, target consumers, and develop a launch plan.

Innovation topic: 1, Study the dietary guidelines and food policies in one of the countries in ASEAN to identify gaps and opportunities for supporting plant-based product innovations and plant-rich eating. Develop a plan to support dialogue with local authorities to make change happen.
2, Design a plant-based ice cream product and its proposition that Asia’s Generation Z would want to eat, and be happy to share on social media.

Innovation topic: Develop a range of plant-based ready-to-eat convenience foods using existing The Vegetarian Butcher range of products or propose new products/formats, and develop a launch plan.

Innovation topic: Develop an advocacy plan, using the approach of influencing influencers, in order to replace the consumption of animal-based products with plant-based options. For inspiration, look at how Portuguese public eateries now have to provide plant-based meals options by law and how primary and secondary schools in Taiwan are now having plant-based diets once a week and food education.
