What we’ve been up to this past quarter, in all ProVeg’s different areas of action.

We support and connect global partners and start-ups to advance plant-based and cultivated food innovation; we raise public awareness around the multiple benefits of these foods.

ProVeg Incubator’s eighth cohort of startups ramps up the game! Plus – better and more tailored support

Our eighth cohort of startups went above and beyond at the ProVeg Incubator Demo Day in June, ramping up their pitches for the assembled online guests. Fotortec, a circular-economy startup that produces protein ingredients, bagged the Jury Award, while Biofect Innovations, a biotech company leveraging microbial fermentation to develop novel plant-based ingredients, took home the Audience Award.

Meanwhile, ProVeg Incubator alumnus POW!Foods has launched four new products (nuggets, chorizo, and two sausage variants) in Jumbo, one of the biggest retailers in Latin America. This marks a significant expansion of plant-based products in the region.

We are also excited to announce that we have adjusted the Incubator program to offer even more tailored and timely support to our startups. Applications are now assessed on a rolling basis – accepted startups will be included in the next edition of the accelerator program, which will continue to take place twice a year. However, startups will no longer have to wait for the official start of the program in order to benefit from what the Incubator has to offer– they will get immediate access to our networks and services, and can start working with our team right away.

ProVeg stands out as the plant-based champion at Biofach 2022

ProVeg is once again proud to lead one of the most exciting programs at Biofach 2022, the world’s leading trade fair for organic food, in Nuremberg, Germany.

ProVeg has been organizing and leading the program ‘Experience the World of Vegan’ since 2015, holding panel discussions and lectures on the latest trends and developments in plant-based nutrition and innovation. This year, our team drew a lot of buzz on the many benefits of labelling vegan and vegetarian foods, as well as providing enticing cooking sessions that showcased plant-based cuisine. Members of our Food Industry and Retail team were also present to scout for promising plant-based innovations and to engage and network with some of the leading stakeholders in the organic sector, which could pave the way for new partnerships.

The four-day in-person event was held after more than two years of digital exhibitions and attracted more than 24,000 trade visitors from the organic-food and natural- and organic-cosmetics communities in 137 countries.
