Recent progress you’ve made possible

What we’ve been up to this past quarter, in all ProVeg’s different areas of action.

We support and connect global partners and start-ups to advance plant-based and cultivated food innovation; we raise public awareness around the multiple benefits of these foods.

Winners of the ProVeg China Food Innovation Contest

Thanks to you, ProVeg China hosted the Plant-Based Food Innovation Awards Ceremony (as part of the annual conference of the Shanghai Food Science Society). The winning team’s ideas included plant-based meat snacks, coconut yogurt, convenience sauce to accompany rice, plant-based burger flavors, vegan baked goods, nut-based meal replacements, and social advocacy in the plant-based movement.

ProVeg collaboration with Lidl

In 2020, our Food Industry and Retail Team had a fruitful collaboration with German retailer Lidl, with several events and campaigns taking place. In June, ProVeg co-branded a social media campaign with Lidl, entitled Die vegane Grill Werkstatt (the vegan barbeque workshop), which explored the topic of plant-based barbecues on Facebook and Instagram. It was a huge success, with very high community engagement. Lidl shared recipes and challenges, and ProVeg participated by providing vegan-barbecue tips, facts about the 5 Pros, and other information. ProVeg also joined an online cooking event. The campaign resulted in the launch of numerous plant-based products, including the Next Level vegan-BBQ sausage and Mondarella, a plant-based Mozzarella. Later on in the year, ProVeg contributed to Lidl’s ‘Vegan Wednesday’ campaign on Instagram, while ProVeg’s Dirk Liebenberg took part in Lidl’s Veganes Dinner, a live, online show.
