Vchunks roll

Vchunks rolls are a delightful twist on traditional pastries, featuring a savory filling made with boiled and minced Vchunks, potatoes, and aromatic spices. The flaky pastry wraps are filled, rolled, and baked to golden perfection, resulting in a flavorful and satisfying snack.

Ingredients

For the pastry:

  • 2 cups
    All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup
    Margarine
  • 1/2 tsp
    Salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    Water

For the filling:

  • 75 g
    Vchunks boiled and minced
  • 2 small
    Potatoes chopped 
  • 1 small
    Onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp
    Curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    Thyme
  • 1/2 tsp
    Paprika
  • Salt Adjust to taste
  • Pepper Adjust to taste

Instructions

Prepare the pastry:

  1. Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.

  2. Add the margarine, and use your fingers to rub it into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.

  3. Add the cold water and mix until a dough forms gradually.

  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the filling:

  1. Heat a little oil in a skillet and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.

  2. Add the Vchunks and potatoes cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.

  3. Add the curry powder, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  4. Add a little water and cook for another few minutes. Set aside to cool.

Prepare the Roll

  1.  Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Roll out the chilled pastry dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle.

  3. Cut the rectangle into smaller rectangles.

  4. Place a portion of the Vchunks filling on each rectangle and roll it up, sealing the edges.

  5. Place the Vchunks rolls on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked.

  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
