New Food Invest 2022: Focus on Africa, Middle East, and Europe

The second edition of New Food Invest will bring together international plant-based and cultured-food businesses, investors and venture capitalists to accelerate the growth of these sectors.

Co-hosted by global food awareness organisation, ProVeg International, and business networking and investment platform Beyond Animal, New Food Invest will focus on the African, Middle-East and European markets at an online event, taking place on 27 October 2022.

Then, New Food Invest will shift to the Asia-Pacific region for its next online event on 15 February 2023.

Launched last year, New Food Invest was the world’s first online conference focusing exclusively on investment in the burgeoning alternative protein and sustainable food tech industries. The inaugural event was highly successful, bringing together 400 participants to hear 75 speakers on how next-generation solutions can be brought to market. At least $75 million was available from participating investors per investment deal.

This year, speakers will be covering topics including:

❏ The changing economics of cellular agriculture and aquaculture;

❏ Plant-based products in Europe – does sales growth support current valuations?

❏ Global venture capital trends and sources of capital in Europe

❏ Disruptive technologies – which companies are likely to be the next “soonicorns”

❏ How food insecurity and an unstable supply chain mandates alternative protein sources

❏ Sustainable finance, “Farm to Fork” and the EU taxonomy

There will also be investor panels and two separate pitch sessions for early stage and growth companies.

Claire Smith, Co-founder of Beyond Animal, said: “Last year’s event was an outstanding success which brought together high-level investors with startups from key regions of the world. As the original animal-free networking and fintech platform, Beyond Animal is delighted to be partnering again with ProVeg International to bring New Food Invest back onto the global stage.”

Sebastian Joy, President of ProVeg International, heralded the event as a great opportunity for matchmaking between startups and investors. “The New Food Invest  conference has the potential to change the global food system. Based on feedback from last year’s event, we are staging more region-specific events to match new startups with investors,” Joy said.

In addition to the core programme, New Food Invest will provide ample opportunities to network with investors, startups and experts. The event will also feature the Beyond Animal dealroom for immediate followup with pitching startups and deal-making with the hundreds of other companies that have registered with Beyond Animal.

The New Food Invest sessions will be recorded and made available to all participants via the Beyond Animal platform, which means that you won’t miss out on anything and can revisit content again later.
