Searching for a delicious sweet dessert that's healthy at the same time? This chia chocolate pudding might be just what you're looking for. But be warned - begin this recipe the day before you plan to eat it as the chia needs a bit of time to prepare.

Chocolate pudding and a superfood at the same time

The name ‘chia’ comes from the native language of the Nahuatl tribe of Central America. Chia seeds have a high nutritional value, and contain more omega 3 fats than any other vegetable source. They are rich in protein, amino acids and all sorts of healthy vitamins and minerals. They have a whole range of other health benefits as well and truly deserve to be considered a superfood!

This chocolate pudding is delicious with a banana and strawberry topping.

20 gdates
50 gstrawberries
1 banana
50 gchia seeds
300 mlplant milk
2 tbsp.cocoa powder
1 tsp.cinnamon
1 gwalnuts
1 tbsp.sunflower seeds
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
  • Passive Time: 3 hours

instructions

    If you plan to eat your chia pudding for breakfast, begin this recipe the night before. Alternatively, if you intend to eat the pudding for dessert, begin preparing the recipe in the morning. Mix the chia seeds together with the plant milk, cinnamon and cocoa powder in a bowl.

    Stir well, cover and put in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours (or overnight).

    After 3 hours, use the hand blender to mix the dates through the seed mixture. If using hard dates, soak them in warm water for 5 minutes first.

    Cut the strawberries and the banana into small pieces.

    Chop the walnuts finely.

    Garnish your chocolate chia mix with the strawberries, banana, walnuts and sunflower seeds.
