Bringing plant-based nutrition into mainstream medicine
March 19, 2019
During medical school in the UK, the amount of time spent on nutrition and the power of diet is sadly very low and given that many of our biggest health concerns can be tackled with diet alone, we at ProVeg are addressing this imbalance with VegMed.
VegMed is Europe’s biggest scientific conference on plant-based nutrition and we are bringing it to the UK for the first time. Entitled ‘The Power of Plants: bringing plant-based nutrition into mainstream medicine’, VegMed 2019 is a two-day conference held at King’s College London on 12 and 13 October 2019. The first day is for the medical profession: physicians, scientists, medical students, and nutritionists and those in related fields. The second day is for the general public.
The event brings together internationally renowned speakers to present the most up-to-date research and findings.
A few notable speakers are:
Founder of NutritionFacts.org and critically acclaimed author of ‘How Not To Die. A celebrity in the plant-based community and we delighted that he will be joining us.
Internationally renowned nutritionist and co-author on over 10 books about nutrition.
President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine with a specific interest in diabetes and Alzheimer’s reversal on a plant-based diet.
Surgeon turned plant-based physician, Dr Klaper now practices plant-based medicine around the world to prevent hospitalisation and surgery. He has featured in major documentaries such as ‘Cowspiracy’ and authored countless articles in his field.
The Happy Pear
Best selling authors and plant-based business owners are also confirmed to close the public day of the event. Speaking about their exciting new ‘Happy Gut’ course, the charismatic brothers will be presenting information on how to maintain a happy & healthy gut on a plant-based diet.
“VegMed provides a much-needed platform to address an imbalance within the medical profession. It is well documented that diet and lifestyle play a key role in preventing many of the UK’s biggest killers, yet only a handful of hours are dedicated to nutrition education for medical professionals here in the UK.”
Philip Mansbridge, Executive Director, ProVeg UK
VegMed is an inclusive event
