The inaugural edition of the Animal & Vegan Advocacy (AVA) Summit takes place this fall in Washington, DC, from October 20-23, 2022.Â
This international event will showcase creative and innovative approaches, providing modern strategies for use in individual and organizational advocacy. The goal is accelerated systemic change for food systems and animal welfare, which aligns with other urgent planetary challenges such as the climate crisis and food scarcity.
The conference features a diverse lineup of speakers, including over 80 speakers from more than 25 countries. Speakers include leading experts such as Peter Singer, Gene Baur, Genesis Butler, Melanie Joy, Leah GarcĂ©s, Bruce Friedrich, Jennifer Stojkovic, and so many more.Â
“I’ve never seen such a truly international set of speakers at an animal conference,”
Peter Singer, Author of Animal Liberation
The AVA Summit welcomes people who come to their journey with any motivation, including animal, environmental, personal health, social justice, and all other intersecting reasons. The summit supports numerous strategies and tactics for strengthening our shared vision and hopes for the future, spanning from grassroots activism to highly specialized engagement, to individual outreach, large-scale food systems change, legislative change, corporate engagement, and advancing animal-free technologies.
“With the AVA Summit, we are creating a highly modern, diverse, progressive, and professional event for the animal and vegan advocacy movement. A conference urgently needed!” says Julia Reinelt, Conference Lead. “Gender and racial diversity in our audience, speakers, and partners is our top priority. The AVA Summit will focus on roughly 60% North American and 40% international content, and we are excited to be featuring so many outstanding movement representatives from all over the world!”
The AVA Summit strives to bring the most impactful aspects of past animal advocacy conferences into the current era, focusing on high-quality speakers, results-and-action-oriented presentations and workshops, inclusivity, and ample networking opportunities.
