Plant-based shawarma sandwich

Ingredients

Servings: 2 people
  • 200 g
    plant-based shawarma (e.g. Vivera Plant Shawarma)
  • 1
    garlic clove
  • 5 g
    chives
  • 2 tbsp
    plant-based mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp
    plant-based yoghurt
  • 100 g
    cherry tomatoes
  • 1
    small red onion
  • 2
    large pita breads
  • 4
    lettuce leaves
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. For the garlic sauce, finely chop the garlic and chives. Mix with the mayonnaise and yoghurt and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Let stand until ready to use.
  2. Cut the cherry tomatoes into slices and the onion into strips.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and fry the shawarma over a high heat for 5 minutes, until hot and crispy.
  4. Heat the pita breads in the oven or toaster.
  5. Cut open the pita breads and spread the garlic sauce inside. Put the curly lettuce leaves inside and spread some tomato and onion slices on top. Fill the breads with shawarma. Finish with extra onion, tomato, and the garlic sauce.
