Alpro South Africa
Alpro plant based milk products want to help South Africans to put plants first, in a meaningful way to move to eat healthier and more sustainably. The Alpro almond and soy milk range is 100% plant-based, GMO- and lactose-free, with added vitamins and calcium. It is a perfect partner to your morning cereal, smoothie, tea or coffee “pick me up”!
Alpro carefully selects the highest quality nuts and soya beans, working closely in collaboration with farmers, co-ops and agronomics to build long-term relationships. Their plant-based milks are produced in Belgium and delivered to South Africa by boat to ensure a lower carbon footprint. Alpro Tetra packs are fully recyclable and designed to have a minimum impact on the environment.
You can find Alpro products in Spar, Checkers and Pick n Pay.
Cook with Alpro
Alpro products are great to use when cooking. Pretty Things Delicious Eats suggests that we use Alpro Roasted Almond (One of ProVeg SA’s favourite Almond Milks available!) to make a Vegan Cheese Sauce.
1/4 cup vegan butter/margarine
1/4 cup flour
1 cup Alpro Roasted Almond Milk
1 1/2 cups grated vegan cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian herbs
1/2 tsp paprika
Melt the vegan butter in a small pan over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour for around 2 minutes to form a paste. Add in the milk and whisk. Add in the cheese bit by bit while continuously whisking – you want to try and melt as much of the cheese as you can. Add in the herbs and whisk well. Serve with potato fries, over fresh pasta or over cooked vegetables.
