A guide to finding vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in the Mother City
ProVeg South Africa and Humane Society International/Africa are proud to share the first in a series of maps called My Plant-Based City – a series of maps showcasing vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in South Africa’s biggest cities, kicking it off with the Mother City. The restaurant suggestions were made by food expert and vegan influencer Garth Tavares (known as the Cape Town Vegan).

You might be wondering why the popularity of plant-based diets and vegan lifestyles has exploded recently, with new plant-based alternatives for products like meat and dairy showing up in major retailers, and more and more restaurants offering these options. The growth has been driven by more awareness of the health, environment, and ethical benefits of eating plant-based foods; and the options now available mean that you don’t have to sacrifice on taste!

Along with raising awareness of the benefits of eating more plant-based, Humane Society International/Africa and ProVeg South Africa are also working to make it easier for people to find these plant-based options. In addition to being readily available in all leading retailers, there are also plenty of amazing restaurants that are serving up epic plant-based meals, and we hope this map inspires you to try some of them!

Printed versions of the map will be distributed across Cape Town at various information points and restaurants. You can also access all the locations of all the restaurants here using Google Maps to take you to your restaurant of choice:
