Privacy Policy for Veggie Challenge App

1 General information on the collection of personal data

In addition to our website we provide you with a mobile app that you can download to your mobile device. In the following we give information about the collection and processing of personal data when using our mobile app. Personal data is all data that can be related to you personally, e.g. name, address, e-mail addresses, user behavior etc.

When you contact us by e-mail or via a contact form, we will store your e-mail address and, if you have provided it, your name and telephone number in order to answer your questions. Your messages via the contact form will be stored in WordPress, a content management system we use for our website. Messages via email will be stored in Google Mail. We will delete your message in combination with your provided personal data when storage is no longer required or – in the case of statutory storage obligations – restrict processing.


The mobile app does not use cookies. In addition, no special authorizations or permissions are required to use the app. Only network access is required, since the app’s content is only visible in online mode. The app has the possibility and available functionality to enable permissions or features like camera usage, photo album and GPS, but we don’t use it in the app and therefore don’t request permissions for it.

 

2 Your rights

You have the following rights against us with regard to the personal data relating to you, which you can assert by notifying ProVeg.

  • Right to information and access – the right to be informed of and request access to the personal data we process about you;
  • Right of correction – the right to request that we amend or update your personal data where it is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Right to deletion – the right to request that we delete your personal data;
  • Right to restrict processing – the right to request that we temporarily or permanently stop processing all or some of your personal data;
  • Right to data portability – the right to request a copy of your personal data in electronic format and the right to transmit that personal data for use in another party’s service;
  • Right to object to the processing – If your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data within the framework of the legal requirements.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority about the processing of your personal data in our company.

 

 

3 Usage

 

How do we collect your personal data when using our mobile app?
When you download the Veggie Challenge app – when downloading and using the mobile app, we collect the personal data described below to enable convenient use of the functions.


What personal data do we collect from you?

 

  1. IP address
  2. date and time of the request
  3. Time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
  4. URL/Endpoint of the request (specific page)
  5. Access status/HTTP status code
  6. Amount of data transmitted in each case
  7. Web site from which the request comes
  8. Browser / App version number
  9. Operating system and its interface
  10. Language and version of the browser software.
  11. Country

 

What do we use your personal data for?

We collect this Veggie Challenge usage data to make sure you are able to use all the functions of the app and to ensure stability and security (legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).

The iOS and Android app also include the Meta SDK for the purpose of tracking and logging conversions for advertisements on Facebook and Instagram. The data collected through the Meta SDK may include information such as IP address, device type, and device ID. This information may be used to optimise our advertisements for conversions, such as signups.

4 Registration data

 

How do we collect your personal data when you register for the Veggie Challenge?
When signing up for the Veggie Challenge in the app – to use to app, you have to sign up for the Veggie Challenge. When you sign up we ask you to provide us with your information needed to complete your registration, like your e-mail address and your current type of diet.

What personal data do we collect from you?
When signing up for the Veggie Challenge via the app, we will ask you for some information to complete your registration which will stored in a database on one of our servers. This includes your: 

  1. Name;  
  2. Email address;  (this will be encrypted, in case of a data leak)
  3. Current diet;  
  4. Motivation.

What do we use your personal data for?

The Veggie Challenge registration data such as email address and, current diet (among others) are collected to help us monitor trends in Veggie Challenge participation, build profiles of our users, understand your needs, personalise our communications, improve our products and services, and attract more support – all of which enables us to make a bigger impact. 

 

We collect your name and email address for being able to send you personalized newsletters. We ask you for your date of birth, current diet and motivation to help us monitor trends in Veggie Challenge participation, to build profiles of the Veggie Challenge participants, to personalize communications and to better understand your needs and thereby improve the Veggie Challenge and all its services – all of which enables us to make a bigger impact.
Also, via a monthly newsletter, we will use your email address to inform you about the work we do and to attract more support. 

 

We store this Veggie Challenge participation data in MailChimp, which is an email marketing service software which we use to send you your personalized email newsletters of your Veggie Challenge and send you our monthly newsletter after your participation. In addition, your information will be encrypted and stored in a database on one of our servers.

 

5 Gamification data

How do we collect your personal data when using our mobile app?
When using the app, we will ask you various questions, regarding your challenge. The gamification questions will aim to make the challenge more interactive and are supposed to contribute in keeping you motivated. For instance, we will ask you to give an indication about how the challenge is going for you or to test your knowledge about plant-based food.
Answering the gamification is optional and you can choose not to answer them and still be able to fully use the app and/or fulfill your Veggie Challenge.
It is optional to receive those questions through push notifications The app will request optional permission to send push notifications. If permission is denied, the app can still be used without notifications. You can revoke the function in the settings of the app or your operating system at any time.

What personal data do we collect from you?
When using the app, we will ask you various questions, regarding your challenge. Answering those questions is not obligatory, but when you do, your answers to these questions will be stored in a database on one of our servers. These answers consist of:

  1. your opinion regarding the Veggie Challenge;
  2. your indication about your performance regarding your personal challenge;
  3. Your answers to questions meant to test your knowledge about plant-based food.

 

What do we use your personal data for?

With the Veggie Challenge gamification data we hope to keep you engaged with your challenge and make your challenge more fun. In addition, we will use this data to measure your savings during your challenge as a result of your diet change and also be able to calculate the savings of all participants together.

 

6 Data deletion and storage duration

We process your personal data as long as this is necessary for the respective purpose or as long as there is a legal obligation to keep records. For this purpose, we carry out a review of the data towards the end of each year. A requirement may exist in particular if the data is still needed to fulfil contractual services. If there is no need for further processing or if there is no longer a legal obligation to retain the data, the data will be deleted unless you have consented to further processing. In this case you have the right to revoke your consent at any time.

 

When it is no longer needed, it will either be deleted or anonymised. By anonymising data we are able to continue to use vital information supplied over the course of your relationship with us for reporting purposes and to track our progress over time, but without being able to identify you as an individual.

In addition, if you request, we will delete or anonymise your personal data so that it no longer identifies you.

 

7 How do we keep your personal data safe?
We are committed to protecting our users’ personal data. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to help protect the security of your personal data; however, please note that no system is ever completely secure. We have implemented various policies including pseudonymisation, encryption, hashing, access, and retention policies to guard against unauthorised access and unnecessary retention of personal data in our systems.

 

8 Third parties
The app is available via distribution platforms operated by third parties, so-called app stores. Your download may require prior registration with the respective App Store and installation of the App Store software. We have no influence on the collection, processing and use of personal data in connection with your registration and the provision of downloads in the respective App Store and the App Store software. The operator of the respective App Store is solely responsible for this. Please contact the respective app store provider directly for information.

 

When downloading the mobile app, the required information is transferred to the App Store, i.e. in particular the user name, e-mail address and customer number of your account, time of download, payment information and the individual device ID number. We have no influence on this data collection and are not responsible for it. We process the data only to the extent necessary for downloading the mobile app to your mobile device. There is no duty to provide the data but without it you are not able download the app. The processing of the data is mandatory for the use of the app. There is therefore no possibility of objection on the part of the user if they wish to use this offer. The user is free to uninstall the app at any time, but they will then no longer be able to access the content in this way.

 

9 Final remarks

This privacy policy is dated August 15, 2020 and may need to be amended as our app evolves or new technologies are implemented.
