    plant-based burger patties (e.g. Vivera Plant Burger)
  • 2
    burger buns
  • 2
    slices of (vegan) cheddar
  • 1
  • 1
    red onion
  • 4
    lettuce leaves
  • 6
    slices of gherkin
  • (plant-based) sauce to taste (e.g. mayonnaise and ketchup)
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper


  1. Briefly toast the burger buns in a dry frying pan. Next, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in the frying pan and fry the plant-based burgers for 2-3 minutes per side. After turning, place a slice of cheddar on each burger and allow to melt.
  2. Slice the tomatoes and red onions.
  3. Cut the buns in half and cover the bottom halves with the lettuce leaves. Place the burgers on top and divide the tomatoes and red onions between the buns. Finish the burgers with the gherkins and your favourite sauce. (We used plant-based mayonnaise and ketchup.) Finish with the top halves of the burger buns.
