A #WorldPlantMilkDay success with Almond Breeze
August 23, 2018
World Plant Milk Day 2018 was celebrated all over Europe, the USA and now, South Africa! This initiative of ProVeg International and Plant Based News was introduced last year as an international day of action, to showcase how tasty, healthy and easily available plant-based milks are.
Here in South Africa, we partnered with Blue Diamond Almonds to bring tasters of Almond Breeze to students at the University of Cape Town.
Hundreds of students stopped by on their walk between lectures and during their lunch break. The almond milk was overwhelmingly popular and it proved, once again, how tasty vegan food can be a great conversation-opener about the benefits of a plant-based diet: for our health, for the planet, and for animals. After all, almond milk is
– naturally lactose and dairy free;
– a healthier and great tasting alternative to dairy;
– a source of vitamins A, D and E; and
– naturally cholesterol free!

Plant milks are becoming incredibly popular the world over, as people are becoming more aware of the negative environmental impact of cow’s milk. Did you know that it takes about 1,000 litres of water to produce one litre of cow’s milk, and that 1 kg of cheese requires about 3,000 litres of water and emits 13.5 kg of CO2? Now you do! Plus, the myth of “humane” dairy has long been debunked – read our article about dairy industry practices to learn more.
It’s never been easier to opt for healthy, animal-friendly and planet-friendly milk alternatives. Pop into a shop near you and try out some Almond Breeze – have you heard that Vanilla Flavoured Almond Breeze will soon be hitting the shelves? It’s SO good, you have to try it!
